After maturing, I realized the melancholy and lugubrious tones are exaggerated, and that I was overdramatic in my times of woe. However, compiling and publishing these poems is a form of release. It is a way for me to evolve. I grew up believing my extreme and intense emotions were sins, or rather signs of weakness. In the next phase of my life, I believed my inability to love-or rather the way I loved- was one of my greatest catastrophes. Now, at 17, I know that all of this cannot be further from the truth.
