Ten business failures in a dozen years had soured their attitude towards him. This inaugural speech was, therefore, an opportunity for Napoleon to win accolades before his wifes friends and family, and he succeeded. His speaking style captivated the audience. He used his history of setbacks to show how he overcame adversity. This speech was considered one of the greatest of all time in that part of the province.
