Despite Gandhijis opposition, he was elected President of the Congress, but resigned when he lacked the support of the executive. While under house arrest, he deceived the British government and reached Japan and founded the Azad Hind Fauj. He coined the slogan, Give me blood, and I will give you freedom. He waged an armed struggle for Indias independence. Subhas Chandra Boses patriotism is unparalleled. His death remains a mystery. It is said that his plane crashed on August 23, 1945.
