Description

Atmadroh is a self-aware collection of R. Chetans revolution, in the sense that he deeply recognizes the forces that seek to destroy citizenship and the soul of the nation and thus seeks ways to rehabilitate the collective soul. He is fully aware that the moral strength of communities has declined, falling prey to rumors, falsehoods, and hatred. He views this phenomenon with deep regret, which transforms into satire and introspection in his poetry. He describes social and political degradation with irony and, at times, deep sarcasm. His civic consciousness is fused with linguistic awareness, which ultimately manifests in rare poetic flourishes. In the tradition of Shamsher Bahadur Singh, Chetan is one of the few distinguished Hindi poets who, in his Urdu ghazals and nazms, which are also part of this collection, never forget to remind us of indissoluble brotherhood. If the poets tone has changed in this collection, becoming more bitter and acidic, its because times have changed and social toxicity has rapidly increased. In the face of this destruction of tenderness and mutuality, one can neither remain helpless nor neutral. Chetan unleashes a tone and structure filled with irony and self-reproach for this situation. Following Shoknaach (2004) and Veerta Par Viktaab (2017), Atmadroh is R. Chetankrantis third collection of poems. In this opportunistic environment of cultural turmoil, Chetans unique ability to achieve self-exile and saintly poetic persona is one of Hindis greatest achievements. Devi Prasad Mishra
