Like the sage Vishwamitra, I and my times need a Shri Ram, who could be the savior of Ahalya, cast out of society and lying prostrate in the forest, oppressed by Indra and conventional social norms; who could free the world from Tataka and Subahu; who could throw Maricha miles away; who could vow in Sharabhangs ashram to make the earth free from demons; who could free the world from tyrannical forces like Ravana.But he was born in a human body. Why didnt he possess the natural human weaknesses that define every human being? Ideal men sacrifice; but this was more than just sacrifice, where there was no desire for domination. This was something far beyond the idealsomething far beyond the limits of humanity. Shri Ram had no desire, no attachment, no greed, no anger. How is such a man possible? My opponents are angry, asking why Ram wasnt like them? Why wasnt he tormented by the desire for gold and women? Why dont they crave the luxuries and vices that come with kingdom, wealth, property, and power? Why dont feelings of jealousy, hostility, and revenge arise in their minds? Goswami Ji has said, The body created by ones own desire is beyond the control of the qualities of Maya and the qualities of senses. ... No desire for sensual pleasure was included in the structure of that body, so their minds did not adopt those natural qualities of nature that make a human being an ordinary human being. They had assumed a body that was not ordinaryit was beyond the control of the qualities of Maya and the senses.
