Description
The Cursed Warrior of the Mahabharata
Its an irony of fate that, despite being a crucial and immortal figure in the Mahabharata saga, Ashwatthama has always been neglected. In mythological literature, there are others, including Ashwatthama, who are considered immortal. But while others received the boon of immortality, Ashwatthama received immortality as a curse!
The story of war is always written in the black ink of ruthless massacres, the killing of innocents, and atrocities. So, what two unforgivable crimes did Ashwatthama commit in a great war like the Mahabharata, for which Lord Krishna cursed him to wander the earth for thousands of years in a lonely and decrepit state? The question arises in his mind: did Lord Krishna do injustice to him by imposing such a harsh curse, or was there some divine purpose behind it? Did Lord Krishna want to convey a message to modern society through Ashwatthama?
Most of the world considers Ashwatthama to be as devious and wicked as Duryodhana. In this novel, the author has presented the story of Mahabharata in a new form from the perspective of that great warrior, highlighting the untouched aspects of Ashwatthamas life.
Literature has the responsibility to restore the forgotten heroes and heroines. Ashwatthama is a necessary and noble effort in this category.
- Dr. Kumar Vishwas, poet and politician
Half-truth has always been a source of happiness and a subject of introspection for humans. The character of Ashwatthama is a symbol of this conflict.
