Description

This book is a study of human freedom. The idea of this freedom has evolved from ongoing struggles over various issues and their institutionalization. The starting point is the idea that freedom is a fundamental principle of life, and therefore, it is absolutely natural for humans, and cannot be suppressed. The aim of this book is not to write a comprehensive history of freedom, but to present a very brief outline of its development. Therefore, it describes some of the documented events that paved the way for the achievement of some of its goals and some of the basic ideas that enabled human thought to move in this direction. In this process, some of the most important events in history, such as the French Revolution, have been used only as accepted references to maintain coherence in order to present the ideas with facts. The book also considers the events that laid the groundwork for historical events and their socio-economic background. This study provides a detailed discussion of the experiences of European countries, especially Britain. One reason for this is that Europes developments are thoroughly documented. Another reason is that while struggles for liberation took place in many parts of the world, most of the currents that sought to advance liberation were lost in the sands of time. The only current that exists today and has blossomed into a mighty river is the one that originated in Europe. It was from this very source that other peoples, in the light of European ideas, rose against slavery and rediscovered their freedom. Today, we see that the struggle for freedom is symbolized by the United Nations Charter of Human Rights. This Charter itself is the culmination of a twist of events and has taken its form completely against the wishes of the powers responsible for its creation. Undoubtedly, the conceptual ground this book creates for understanding the struggle for freedom in different periods of time in the global landscape is, in its process, a unique tale of unique experiences.
