Description
Banda Bahadur spent his early life as an ascetic, a life that lasted approximately seventeen years. He spent most of his time practicing penance in his ashram in Nanded, a town on the Godavari River in South India. He deeply studied Hindu scriptures and the practices of yoga and pranayama. Some believe he was also a master of Tantra. Guru Gobind Singh embraced him, converted him to Sikhism by administering Amrit to him, named him Banda Singh Bahadur, and entrusted him with the responsibility of uprooting the Mughal Empire from Punjab. He then launched a program of subjugating Mughal cities, forts, and castles in Punjab. Banda declared that he would dispossess the landlords and distribute all the land among the poor peasants. For the first time in so many centuries since the days of Mahmud of Ghazni and Muhammad Ghori, a non-Muslim power had established its dominance over a large and valuable territory in North India. Ultimately, the Mughals captured Banda Bahadur, shackled him, and imprisoned him in an iron cage. The inhuman torture inflicted on Banda Singh Bahadur by Muslim executioners, who kept him imprisoned for months in handcuffs and shackles, is beyond comprehension and imagination. This book, which glorifies the bravery and valor of the brave, revolutionary, martyr, devout, and patriotic warrior Banda Singh Bahadur, is a must-read for every patriot.
