In the current social and political climate, we have begun to neglect our history. History no longer exists as an independent subject even in the lower grade curriculum. It has been relegated to a small part of social science. As a result, students lack a full understanding of their countrys history. They are unable to understand the honor and glory of their ancestors, their sacrifices, their valor, and their bravery. A sense of nationalism is waning in them. This situation is worrying. It is the responsibility of the government, teachers, and everyone to strive to instill a love of history in students. I have written this book on Indian history inspired by this sentiment. In it, I have made a small effort to shed light on the political, social, religious, economic, and cultural conditions of India during the Mughal and British periods. I have tried to show students where our history has erred, and how foreigners have repeatedly tried to take advantage of these mistakes to clip the wings of our golden bird. Yet, we have maintained our identity. The success or failure of the book depends on the readers.
