Under this very premise, India, after independence, attempted to build a social and economic structure based on Western ideological foundations for its development. However, this has only compounded problems rather than solving them. Furthermore, despite numerous achievements, many thinkers around the world are dissatisfied with the vision and direction of Western progress. Today, the entire world seeks an alternative development model. In his book, Hindu Economic Thought: Vision and Direction, renowned economist Dr. Bajrang Lal Gupta, while providing a detailed account of the long and robust tradition of Indian economic thought, also comprehensively analyzes the shortcomings of Western economic thought, due to which the entire world is today on the brink of an economic and social crisis. To overcome this global crisis, he also suggests an alternative path, based on Indian economic thought, that is beneficial to all.
