Description
From the 1st century BC until now, a particular viewpoint has been created and nurtured regarding Indias ancient tradition, according to which Indian society was divided into various castes for thousands of years, and these castes viewed each other with hatred and contempt. The reason given for this was that the caste system in India was created due to works like the Manusmriti, and that castes remain prevalent in India to this day due to the influence and pressure of such works. The British had many benefits from corrupting the caste system. Firstly, they could fragment Indian society. Secondly, they could corrupt the very essence of the Indian creative tradition. This ideological position became so strong by the time of independence that even after independence, Indian historical and sociological writings blindly followed the 1st century BC discourse, considering it the ideal model and not considering it necessary to comprehensively study the original works and works and the actual situation. The present book makes a serious attempt to present an alternative view on the principles of Manu, a one-sided and favourite topic of scholars of ancient Indian affairs, and also explains how British scholars transformed religion into law and the scriptures into Hindu law; and how this school of thought still prevails.
