Munshi Premchands world-renowned work, Godaan, is no less poetic despite being set in prose against the backdrop of rural life, a natural peasant life. This is why it is called the epic of rural life. The author has given it a new poetic form without disturbing its original essence.Rhymed poetry, due to its rhythm and rhyme, is easily memorized and deeply embedded in the heart. Perhaps this is why the Vedas, Upanishads, Puranas, Ayurveda, spirituality, and philosophy have primarily been presented in rhymed poetry. Godaan (Poetic Adaptation) is the first rhymed poetic adaptation of a complete novel in the history of Hindi literature. All 36 scenes of the story have been adapted in their original form.The entire novel has 65 main and secondary characters; readers will be familiar with most of them in the poetic adaptation. In the adaptation, an attempt has been made to keep the character introduction, character traits of the characters, sequence of events and style of dialogue intact as much as possible.
