Description

Hockey is a game in which two teams attempt to hit a rubber or hard plastic ball into the opposing teams net or goal using a special stick (hockey-stick) made of wood, hard metal, or fiber. Hockey is Indias national sport. Hockey is believed to have originated in Iran 4,000 years ago. It subsequently spread to many countries, but never found its proper place. Finally, it gained special respect in India and became the national sport. Played on a field between two opposing teams of 11 players, each player uses a hockey stick to hit a small, hard ball into the opponents goal.It is called field hockey to distinguish it from ice hockey, a similar sport played on ice. The Indian hockey team participated in the Olympic Games for the first time and won. At the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics, the Indians defeated the host team 24-1, a record for the largest winning margin to date. Of the 24 goals, nine were scored by the two brothers, Roop Singh scored 11, and Dhyan Chand scored the remaining. The book provides detailed information on hockey rules, bylaws, preparation, fielding, goal-scoring techniques, and more. A useful book for hockey players and sports lovers. A useful and guiding book for young players and sports lovers who wish to pursue a career in cricket.
