India and the Global South: Prospects and Challenges

Accounting for roughly 85 per cent of the world population and 39 per cent of the global GDP, the Global South cant be ignored any more. It includes worlds two most populated countries: India and China, and some of the fastest growing economies. It is also the largest source of supplies of oil, gas and much-needed mineral resources. With its historical and cultural links; having supported the struggle of many countries of the Global South against the colonial rule; and willingness to extend its knowledge, experiences, expertise and economic and technological assistance, India has earned considerable goodwill in the Global South.
