Description
If a nations past or history begins to loom as a malevolent shadow over its present, it is absolutely essential to investigate its causes. Reinterpreting history is the result of this need. The studies and analyses of scholars renowned for their scientific historical perspectives, included in this work, are focused on two topics: first, A New Perspective for the Study of Indian History, and second, Communalism and Indian Historiography. It is well known that historical sources are rooted in the facts of their time, but history is not merely a collection of facts. It requires the study of facts and a scientific approach to study. Without this, it is difficult to understand the trends that have been attempting to mythologize Indian history over the past few years. This can be highlighted in many forms. For example, an imaginary sense of superiority about the past, the constant repetition of old theories irrelevant to the present, the use of dubious and fabricated evidence, and the distortion of facts. This can be seen equally among Hindu and Muslim traditionalists in post-independence India. Efforts to revive and rebuild so-called temples converted into mosques or to renew worship in mosques protected by the Archaeological Survey of India highlight similar tendencies. Indeed, as efforts to scientifically evaluate history and tradition are being made, efforts to mythologize them are also gaining momentum. Needless to say, the fulfillment of some politically motivated motives behind such efforts is also a key objective, and exposing them is a historical necessity today, as the conceit of racial and religious superiority has always invited conflict and destruction everywhere in the world. In the words of Professor Romila Thapar, The uncertainty of social change and the expansion of the middle class in Germany in the early 20th century were the root causes of the rise of fascism, exploiting the Aryan myth. This experience should make it clear that theories of ethnic origin and identity must be used with great caution, otherwise they can lead to explosions that devastate entire societies. Under these circumstances, historians must be wary of the ways in which wider society misuses historical ideas in the name of history. Needless to say, this valuable work not only introduces us to pressing issues in history and historiography, but also presents a perspective that is highly relevant today.
