Janjatiye Mithak : Udiya Aadivasiyon Ki Kahaniyan

This book introduces us to nearly a thousand folktales from the tribes of Odisha. It collects folktales from the Bhatra, Binjwar, Gadaba, Gond and Muria, Jhoria and Pengu, Juang, Kamar, Kond, Parenga, Sanwara, and others. These stories provide a true perspective on tribal life. These tribes share many similarities. Their daily lifestyles, their economy, their social organization, and even their beliefs and behavior are similar. Where differences exist, they are not due to ethnicity, but rather the result of environment, education, and Hindu influence. Comparatively, a primitive Kond bears more resemblance to a primitive Didi than a Kond of the northwestern hills, who resembles a Kond of the Russelkonda plains. These interesting stories have been arranged sequentially and thematically to maintain coherence for the reader. While these stories of tribals who have been oppressed for centuries are informative for the common reader, they also provide a new ground for research to researchers.
