Description
Kabir was a religious leader. Therefore, the spiritual essence of his teachings should be savored. However, scholars have studied and utilized them in various forms. The practice of savoring them in poetic form has become prevalent. He has also been widely discussed as a social reformer, a reconciler of all religions, a promoter of Hindu-Muslim unity, a founder of a particular sect, and a philosopher who expounds Vedanta. Although, according to the saying Hari Anant Hari Katha Ananta, Vividh Bhahti Gaavhin Shruti-Santa, it is natural for the Hari-katha narrated by Kabir to be used in various forms, sometimes enthusiastic scholars mistakenly consider Kabir to be a representative of one of these forms and make statements that can be considered inconsistent. Acharya Hazari Prasad Dwivedi is the first scholar to avoid this one-sided approach and to provide a balanced and appropriate assessment of Kabirs multifaceted personality and work as a whole. He believes that Kabirdas possessed a balance and a holistic assessment of all these forms, but his true nature was that of a devotee, accepting all other forms as a means of devotion. Acharya Dwivedis present work is still considered unique in the critical literature on Kabir, and scholars believe that this single book is sufficient to fully understand the personality and work of Kabirdas. A selection of selected verses has been compiled at the end of the book, deemed useful, under the title Kabir-Vani. The first 100 verses are from Acharya Kshitimohan Sens collection. These verses were translated into English by the great poet Rabindranath Tagore.
