Kashmiri Kissago (Hindi Edition)

When I wrote these folk and fairy tales some forty years ago, I used an old Kashmiri storyteller who would sit by his fireplace on winter evenings and entertain the children who came to his shop in Landour Bazaar. So, they all come before you. The Kashmir depicted in these stories is long gone, but the children are still around, and I hear about them from time to time. Little Vijay is now close to fifty, while Shashi with her braids has become a grandmother. I wonder if they tell stories to their children and grandchildren, or simply leave them to their laptops and TV sets? The oral tradition of storytelling has long since died out, but the written word remains. It wont disappear so easily. Through them, we can revisit the past, travel to a world of long ago, and capture a bit of its ancient magic.
