Poetry Century is a representative collection of modern Hindi poetry, encompassing the leading poets of contemporary Hindi poetry, from Bharatendu Harishchandra, the father of modern Hindi, to the present day. This collection is a golden picture of modern Hindi poetry in one volume, offering glimpses of the various movements, trends, and styles of Hindi poetry over the past 150 years. This selection of Hindi poetry has been prepared by Suresh Salil, a well-known poet, writer, critic, and translator. Born on June 19, 1942, Suresh Salil is a scholar of Hindi, Urdu, and English. To date, he has published six original collections of poetry and numerous translations, most notably the extensive collection of twentieth-century world poetry, *Windows of Light*. His recent book, Caravane-Ghazal (a travelogue of eight hundred years of ghazals), has been praised by both critics and readers.
