She was deeply influenced by Shaiva philosophy, and this inspired her to compose her poems, known as vaakhs. Her vakhs, in addition to their devotion to God, reflect the sorrows and pains of her personal life. Like the southern devotee poetess Akk Mahadevi, Laladhya also lived naked. This collection presents the essence of 178 selected Vaakhs of Laladhyad.This book has been selected and edited by Madhav Hada, renowned as an expert on the Bhakti period. A former professor and president of Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur, Madhav Hada has been a fellow at the Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla. He is currently a member of the General Assembly and Hindi Advisory Board of the Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi.
