Description
Lantern Bazaar was Meeras neighborhood, where she grew up. This market was filled from beginning to end with languid-eyed singers, and one of them was Meeras mother. Although Meera was born without a father in a brothel, her mother and her own dream was to escape the infamous Lantern Bazaar and live a normal life. Written in 1977 against the backdrop of the Emergency, this novel tells the traumatic story of Meeras neglect and torture at her in-laws home and her return from there. But Meera remains unshaken, ultimately deciding to create her own world and move forward. From the pen of renowned author Anamika, Meeras story is as poignant as it is a womans personal, unique, and poignant voice. This authors first novel, published in 1983 under the title Par Kaun Sunega, is available again in a new format, titled Lantern Bazaar. At readers request, it is now available again, repackaged and retold, under the title Lantern Bazaar.
