Careful instructions: Keep away from fire.About the AuthorEminent novelist Shri Vrindavanlal Verma was born on January 9, 1889, in Mauranipur (Jhansi) into an aristocratic Srivastava Kayastha family. Vermaji was interested in history since childhood. Therefore, along with higher education in law, he deeply studied history, politics, philosophy, psychology, music, sculpture, and architecture. Vermaji gained greatest fame for his historical novels. In his novels, he refuted the notion that either history dies or the novel dies; rather, he provided a new perspective on both history and the novel. For his literary service, the Government of India honored him with the title of Padma Bhushan, and Agra University conferred an honorary D.Litt. He was also honored with the Soviet Land Nehru Award and the Government of India awarded him a prize of two thousand rupees for Jhansi Ki Rani. Apart from these, various organizations also honored and rewarded him for his various works. Most of Vermajis novels have been translated into major regional languages as well as English, Russian and Czech. His novels Jhansi Ki Rani and Mriganyani have also been filmed.
