Description

The great inventor Marconi was born on April 25, 1874, in Giuseppe, Italy. He was educated in Bologna, Lorraine, and Leghorn. As a child, he developed a keen interest in physics and electrical sciences. He studied the work of Maxwell, Hertz, Righi, Lodge, and other scientists.In 1896, Marconi designed and successfully demonstrated wireless telegraphy equipment in London. In July 1897, he formed the Wireless Telegraph and Signal Company, Ltd. (renamed Marconis Wireless Telegraph Company, Ltd. in 1900). In 1899, he established wireless communication between France and England across the English Channel.In 1914, he was commissioned into the Italian Army as a lieutenant and transferred to the Navy in 1916 with the rank of commander. For his outstanding war service, he was awarded the Italian Military Medal in 1919 and later the Grand Cross. He died in Rome on July 20, 1937.He served humanity in many ways.
