Description

Sita is the main character in the Ramayana and other Ramayana texts based on the Rama story, such as the Ramcharitmanas. Sita was the eldest daughter of King Janak of Mithila. She was married to Rama, the eldest son of King Dasharatha of Ayodhya, after he broke Shivas bow in a swayamvara. Her name is revered for her womanly virtues and devotion to her husband. In the Treta Yuga, she is considered an incarnation of Lakshmi, the goddess of good fortune. According to the Ramayana, King Janak of Mithilas plough got stuck in a box while ploughing his fields. She was found in that box. She was named Sita because the word sit means plough in Maithili. She was raised by King Janak and Queen Sunayana. Urmila was her younger sister. As King Janaks daughter, she is also known as Janaki, Janakatmaja, or Janakasuta. As the princess of Mithila, she is also known by the name Maithili. Because she is found in the soil, she is also known as Bhumiputri or Bhusuta. You will enjoy reading this novel to know why Sita is called Mahasati.
