Mobile and Wireless Communication

This book has been written as per the baisc topics and technologies used by engineering graduates. We have divided the contents into five units according to the requirement. The book opens with a history of mobile and wireless communications, followed by a future vision and a review of current technologies and standards. The units that follow then go deeper into the more technical aspects of wireless communications, such as channel modelling, modulation and coding, multiple access, and resource allocation. The topics in the chapters have been arranged in a proper sequence and the length of each topic is according to requirement in the bachelor of engineering courses.Our teaching experience tells us that a text book, which is meant for learning a student, who is trying to understand the subject for the first time, must clarify all the basic features of the subject in a most lucid and systematic manner. This book start from the evolution of mobile and wireless communication and then explain the basic fundamentals like models of propagation, effects of fading and multipath, spread spectrum techniques, need of equalization and diversity, types of speech coding, multiple access techniques, basic cellular concepts, different standards like GSM and CDMA, IMT-2000 and mobile data networks. This book also deals with the advanced topics like Adhoc-networks, 4G and NGN.
