MURMURS OF THE SOUL

Murmurs of the Soul is an anthology that was meant to be a bunch of private reflections at the outset, but as I wrote further, an engrossing narrative emerged, which incentivized me to compose a longer and cohesive story. The chapbook is an assortment of introspective poesies that holds the promise to evoke profound emotions. It captures various facets of the human experience and presents a diverse range of poetic styles. On a broad level, the book displays common relational patterns, and the complexities of relationships whilst also exhibiting the coalescence of beauty and viciousness of existence. Some parts of the collection give an idea as to how malevolent humans can be, while other portions call attention to the transience of life and the strength of character. Themes of alienation and connection are dealt with throughout, and a few societal issues have been exhibited as well. On the other hand, on a surface level, the poems serve as a view of my life, divulging aspects such as familial dynamics of mine, my predicaments related to desertion and my ongoing discovery of the self. In addition, readers can relish each poem both with and without the context from the other poems, and the compilation also comprises haikus - a form of brief Japanese poetry which often demands cogitation.
