The River is Silent is the third collection by the accomplished poet Rachna Sharma. While Antar-Path was a collection that showcased her compassionate heart, Let There Be Some Nights, Even in Sleep, is a memoir of a womans emotions. In her short compositions, she inquires and engraves her experiences of life on the cool slate of sensitivity. In this collection, the poets mind weaves the fabric of her imagination in the company of the environment and nature, and she also naturally immerses herself in visions of true love. The more life moves away from nature, the more it becomes devoid of love. These poems are an attempt to infuse life with the companionship of love and nature. These poems capture a womans tender desires, from the bond of love to the yearning for marriage on the banks of rivers, under the canopy of nature. Once a poetess wrote, Do not weave my diamond heart with your soft force / with the silken string of your eyes. These poems are like beads that a poetess has woven on the silken string of her mind. The River is Silent - is not just a title, it is also an expression of the silence and sadness of the river in todays slender Ganga summer period. Just as dams and obstacles block the movement of rivers, similarly there are many obstacles in front of the expression of women. The River is Silent - is a rebuttal to these adversities.
