Description
Forgive me, son! Look at that story and see what a beautiful blend of genres it possesses. It contains a personal character, a memoir, a story, and many cruel incidents, and descriptions of his own crueltiestowards his wife and other things, and a profound affection for his child. A portrayal of affection like that in that story is rarely seen. By combining so many prose genres, he has truly created a new narrative chemistry at the end of this century in *Forgive me, son*. This story is a starting point. It challenges how a new structure can be created by breaking the narrative structure. -- Doodhnath Singh Devendras story *Forgive me, son*! Its a coincidence that I once wrote a sonnet with this title, and on my sons birthday, I wrote, Dont forgive me, son, such a day has come/Even the buds that open their eyes say money. That title is taken from there, thats why I dont like it. The poem says something else, my pain was something else. Devendras pain was much greater than that. That thing touches, it is said. It is pain, sorrow, but there is great anger. Another story is a poem about the city police officer. After reading the story, one feels irritated, that this is the same police officer who is in Gujarat today, in Gujarat today, similar police officers, inspectors and police commissioners who are the symbols and representatives of all power. Whenever a story is written, a similar story will be written on the Gujarat riots. The pain and sorrow of those people will awaken the entire group, will provoke them to drink it like a snake. - Namvar Singh
