Description
This is the best excerpt from the critical writings of renowned Hindi critic Dr. Namvar Singh. Namvarji is recognized as a Marxist critic in Hindi, but at his core, he is a populist critic. The people, which Acharya Ramchandra Shukla used as the paradigm of poetry and which Acharya Hazari Prasad Dwivedi gave revolutionary meaning to, he has taken to the class with the help of Marxism. However, his greatest distinction is that he has not accepted Marxism as a foreign, narrow, and conservative system of thought. The truth is that he has looked to the people at every turn for new values in literature. It is not without reason that he is the explorer of another tradition of literature in Hindi: the tradition of the people, which, despite being a mass of inconsistencies and contradictions, is imbued with a spirit of rebellion. Namvarjis criticism is the best example of non-academic criticism in Hindi. In Kahani % Nayi Kahani, he wrote criticism in the style of a personal essay, flowing from one topic to another and providing immense meaning. Naye Pratimaan Ke Kavita is a testament to his extraordinary understanding of tradition, profound analysis, and transparent expression. Similarly, in Dusri Parampara Ki Khoj, he presented criticism that is both profoundly knowledgeable and profoundly sensitive. This creativity was made possible by his personal connection with Acharya Dwivedis literature. This year, Namvarji celebrated seventy-five years of his life. On this occasion, this collection is a gift from Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University to the Hindi world, introducing it to the contributions of the best Hindi critic of the latter half of the modern culture.
