After Mahatma Buddha, Mahayogi Gorakhnath sounded the clarion call for social renaissance in India. Gorakhnath is an ascetic in Indian history who, despite being a pure yogi and ascetic, also led the charge for social and national consciousness. He reorganized the Nath sect for social renaissance. This Mahayogi, who reconciled material life with the spiritual, ignited a flame of virtue, morality, equality, and freedom in Indian society, whose flames continuously burned away tendencies such as casteism, hierarchy, untouchability, discrimination, rich-poor, male-female, inequalities, and regionalism. The philosophy of the Nath sect gave birth to a yogi tradition that made the unified social thinking of Indian culture its objective. This yogi tradition of the Nath sect openly opposed all forms of social evils. Mahayogi Gorakhnath challenged the superiority complex of the varna system and the caste system, declaring all castes and classes equal.
