Padmavat : Manush Pem Bhaeu Baikunthi

One was Rani Padmini, shaped by popular imagination and enshrined in history. People continue to tell and recount her story as a symbol of Rajputanas honor and glory. Another was Padmavat, written in Awadhi by Malik Muhammad Jayasi, in which he created an immortal image of the beauty of women, nature, and love. Students would read excerpts from it as part of their curriculum and, like all other course material, would memorize and forget them. Then a film was made, which revealed that people knew neither Padmini nor Padmavat; that they were reading a myth as truth and not reading what was truly worth reading. Hence this book.
