Description
These poems by Manglesh Dabral, which explore the memories of mountains, stones, and water, and mark the signs of humanity in the plains of urban life, bear witness to the laborious creativity of his poetic mind. This collection was compiled after his passing. Among the poems included are many he was still working on, and some that he had perhaps just begun to sketch in the first flash, which he would have expanded further, but even in their present form, they can be considered complete. While upholding the restrained use of language and their firm support for thought, these poems also underscore his political and social partisanship. It would not be unfair to say that the poems and excerpts collected here bear traces of many of Mangleshs signature characteristics. Furthermore, this collection also offers some insight into his creative process. In the interval between his presence and absence, the echo of these poems remains for a long time, belying his absence and bearing witness to his contribution.
