Description

I intended this collection to be a collection of my early works, and that is its main form. However, while flipping through old books, I discovered a few more poems that, while they cannot be called early works, deserve to be published with the same justice with which a poets early works are published. This statement by Dinkar Ji clearly indicates that this is a collection of his early poems. Nevertheless, it is also a collection whose significance has been noted by Acharya Ramchandra Shukla in his book, History of Hindi Literature. The present collection includes a short poem titled Pran-Bhang, based on the incident of Lord Krishnas taking up arms during the Mahabharata War, which Dinkar Ji himself considers to be based on the example of Jaydratha-Vadh. This poem presents the contradiction between tradition and modernity with its logical logic. Moreover, it also embodies devotion with its faith. In addition to Pran-Bhang, the collections scattered poemsTo Martyr Ashfaq, On the Viceroys Proclamation, Mahatma Gandhi, In the Name of Martyrs, Silent Sacrifice, Tapasya, Martyr, and otherswe can deeply discern the sensitivity toward a golden past and the contradiction toward our own reality. The twenty-eight short stanzas collected at the end of the book reflect social suffering and cultural reflection, as well as a sharp perspective on the exploitative tendencies of power, as can be seen in these lines: King, the horses in your stable are fat. The people are hungry and naked. The horses have no need, but the people are in dire straits. To quote Dinkar Ji himself, Pran-Bhang and Other Poems sheds light on his entire poetic journey.
