Pratirodh Ka StreeSwar : Samkaleen Hindi Kavita

The poems collected in Street Voice of Resistance, edited by poet and prominent feminist critic Savita Singh, are poems of resistance against all structures of power that deprive women of their rights, be it patriarchy, religious authority, casteism, or political power. It could be said that these poems transcend the boundaries of identity discourse or broaden its scope. They attempt to pierce the fog of thought. From home to office, from Parliament to the streets, from the secretariat to the court, all spaces are within their scope. The woman speaking in these poems believes and knows that the government that appears to represent her is not hers. These poems create a broad definition of womens freedom. They also question the differences between upper caste and Dalit women and the understanding that political democracy will only succeed when it transforms into social democracy. Their anger is both against right-wing nationalism and against the social structure. These poems also address the issues raised by the pandemic and the concerns of sanitation workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
