Retila tells a poignant story of how we Indians, who never tire of claiming to see ourselves as part of natures continuity, can stoop to such low levels, willingly and wholeheartedly engaged in destroying nature. While reading it, one never feels that the trees, plants, rivers, mountains, animals, and birds are inanimate in any way. Anand Harshul has described them with their heartbeats and pulses. At the same time, the human greed revealed in the attempt to deceive innocent tribals at every level, covered in slimy blood and flesh, is also revealed.
