Rinala Khurd (Hindi Edition)

Rinala Khurd is a novel by author Ishmadhu Talwar that captures the pain of Indias Partition, echoing the cries of those on one side of the border and the sobs of those on the other. Through the search for the lost river Saraswati, the author creates a collage of memories that repeatedly draws attention to the futility of Indias Partition. It features the stories of Chaiji, which reflect the pre-Partition pain, and the searing grief of Nargis, a resident of Bagad village in Mewat, who moved to Pakistan after marriage. There, she became a famous folk singer under the name Salma, but could neither forget her childhood village nor her lover, Madhu, whom she meets years later in Pakistan. Both remember their lost love and dream of living together in the future, but the border comes in the way. They are separated, their sorrows simmering. The novel explores the source of a dried-up river through a passionate effort to find the vanishing source of love, over which a wall of hatred has been built.
