Description
The interviews collected in this book not only reflect profound concerns on contemporary issues but also express Nand Chaturvedis literary thinking. He was keenly aware of the traditional structure of poetry, its social nature, and the associated concerns. This comprehensive account of Nand Chaturvedis literary concerns, as well as his successes and failures. Education, media, and the new economic landscape, including privatization and globalization, were part of his broader concerns. He also lamented that Hindi writers from Rajasthan did not receive the respect and prestige they deserved. He opposed the transformation of Rajasthan into a market for Uttar Pradesh and repeatedly expresses this grief in these interviews. Over a nine-decade life, Nandji lived through several social periods: the feudal era of Jhalawar-Udaipur, the freedom struggle, and dreams of nation-building. After independence, the dream of equality was shattered, and much later, he had to find answers to the questions of privatization and globalization. These interviews reflect his every experience. Many of the interviewees in this book were Nandjis colleagues, fellow poets, and loved ones. Scholars from abroad and other parts of the country have also spoken with him. In these lengthy interviews, he discusses his reading, memories, and childhood days. The books unique feature is that all the interviews included in it were edited and selected by Nandji himself in the last years of his life. Hope for the reconstruction of the system still remains, because many of these dreams are not imaginary. They are the basic conditions of human existencelike human freedom, like human equality. It is impossible to abandon them. And then it seems to me that no matter how long things continue to be in turmoil, in the end, humanity will not survive without achieving equality and freedom. From this book.
