Satyagraha: WaterForest Conflict In Chhattisgarh

The history of the struggle for water and forests in Chhattisgarh dates back a hundred years. We consider the Satyagrahas for water and forests as a freedom struggle because they involved the presence, inspiration, or both of the same Satyagrahis who were fighting for the countrys independence. Chhattisgarh played a significant role in the struggle for water and forests. Sadly, these events are often mentioned only incidentally in history.By doing so, we overlook the sacrifices of these tribal Satyagrahis. The Kandel Canal Satyagraha, the Nagari, Singhawa, Navapara-Tanwat, and the Badratola Forest Satyagraha were the result of the tyrannical orders of the British administration. The force and inhumanity shown by the British agents in enforcing these orders further strengthened the struggle. In this elixir of independence, this is a timely opportunity to remember those unsung warriors who neither sought fame nor received the respect they deserved. Satyagraha contains biographies of all the freedom fighters who participated in or guided the water and forest satyagrahas. This book was written with the aim of familiarizing the new generation with the sacrifice, struggle, dedication, and courage of these martyrs.
