Suggestive Framework for Mitigating Project Delays in Indian Roads & Highways Sector

Time Delay Had Been A Common Phenomenon Associated With Nearly All Road Construction Projects In India But Very Little Effort And Studies Had Been Done To Amputate The Phenomenon.The Objectives Of This Study Provided Industry And Policymakers With A Suggestive Framework And Possible Solutions To Mitigate Project Delays That Had Generated Cascading Effects In The Implementation Of Roads And Highway Projects In India. Mixed Methodology Had Been Used Which Involved Using Of Qualitative Method For First Objective And Quantitative Method For Second Objective. Qualitative Approach Methodology Explored The Various Critical Factors That Caused Delays In The Road Projects Followed By Using Quantitative Approach Methodology That Calculated Severity Of Critical Factors That Caused Project Delays And Classified These Factors Into Categories To Understand The Impact Of These Factors Causing Delays. As Some Of The Significant Factors Were Identified From The Literature Review, There Was A Deliberate Intention To Hunt For New Emerging Factors By Interacting With Field Experts In The Road And Highway Sectors In India. The Research Undertaken Has Enriched The Overall Understanding Of Transport Industry, Policy Makers And Researchers. It Elaborated The Focus On Factors That Has Emerged From Suggestive Framework That Framed Tentative Guidelines For Mitigation Of Project Delays Causing Time Overruns In Roads And Highways Sector Projects In India.
