Sunner Pande Ki Patoh

This novel by the veteran novelist Amarkant is the story of a woman named Rajlakshmi, who not only preserves her dignity in a society full of wolves but also serves as a source of inspiration for some. In reality, sindoor initially meant her husband, but later, it came to mean sindoor. But one night, when she overheard her in-laws conversation, she felt as if the ground beneath her feet had slipped away. What can a woman do when her dignity is insecure in her own home? Finally, she bid farewell to the village, the gods and goddesses, the birds, the rivers and ponds, and set off on an unknown path... This novel, filled with a powerful and intimate portrayal of the ironies of lower-middle-class life and the yearnings of an abandoned woman, instills a sublime sentiment in readers through its vibrant human touch.
