There were all kinds of movements for Indias independence, mild and hot, sour and sweet. Tribal people launched violent movements using their traditional weapons to preserve their existence and identity. Farmers fought injustice with mild and sometimes harsh weapons. Workers turned the situation in their favor through collective unity. The freedom struggle of 1857 proved to be a milestone in this era. Warrior Mangal Pandey fanned this spark with his martyrdom, and in its flames, leading freedom fighters like Nana Saheb, Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi, Tatya Tope, Bahadur Shah Zafar, etc. sacrificed their lives. The Kuka Movement, the Bhil Movement, the Battle of Plassey, the Battle of Buxar, the Partition of Bengal Movement, the Home Rule Movement, the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre, the Kakori Massacre, and the Dandi March are just some of the movements in which millions of Indians sacrificed their lives for Indias independenceand ultimately, we achieved freedom.The present book discusses some of the major movements associated with the countrys independence, serving as a short document of important freedom movements. The purpose of compiling these movements is to provide todays young generation with complete information about all of Indias important freedom movements in one place. This important work serves as a sacred reminder of the inspiring sacrifices of the Indian freedom struggle.
