Description
She was born sometime in the third decade of the twelfth century, around 1130, in Udutadi, a village in the Shivamogga district of Karnataka, South India, to Shiva-devotee parents. Tradition says she was a peerless beauty. Humans are not made to endure beauty. Beauty has always aroused violence in them. Furthermore, the beauty of a woman, her radiance, her radiance, her devotion to a devotees heart! The beautiful Mahadevi was bound to be penetrated someday. But no one else penetrated her. She undertook this task herself. When Mahadevi first freed herself from the garments of a womans body, then from the filth and urine within her body, when she became merely a devotees mind, searching for lighther lifes journey has naturally enthralled us for centuries, leaving us almost bewildered and speechless. These words of Akka Mahadevi that disturb us today, these words she never wrote down, never edited or edited. They were neither poems nor verses. These were tempered by the fire of a devout womans heart, these soliloquies, these monologues. This is the Hindi translation of her words.
