Description
This book is about the history of the famous Koh - i - Noor diamond, which is the largest - known diamond in the world. The Koh - i - Noor Diamond talks about how the diamond, after its discovery in 3200 BCE, passed through numerous generations and ended up in the custody of Nder Shah Afr. The diamond was said to have been so expensive and valuable that it could feed the whole world for two and a half days. There were four races, including the Indians, Afghans, Persians and the English that were a part of the history of this priceless gem.Legend has it that Nader heard from one of his concubines that the diamond was hidden in the turban of Moammad Shah. After the conquest of Delhi in 1739, Nader Shah reminded Mohammad Shah that, as per the ancient tradition, they were to exchange turbans and the latter agreed. That is how Nader Shah got the diamond. Nader had the diamond for several years until his great grandson gifted it to the former general of Naders army, Amad Shah Dorrni. The diamond still continued to be passed down from generation to generation, until it finally came into the hands of Lord Dalhousie during the British invasion in India. It was then gifted to Queen Victoria in 1849 to be set into her crown. The Koh - i - Noor Diamond, written by Iradj Amini, was published by Roli Books in 2013. The book is available as a paperback. Key Features: This book chronologically and elaborately covers the journey of the Koh - i - noor diamond, starting from its discovery to how it ended up in the custody of the British in 1849.
