First published in 1818, Frankenstein, or, The Modern Prometheus by Mary Shelley is the foremost gothic novel of the Romantic tradition, and inspired several other works in the horror genre. He has two guides by his side Virgil who accompanies him to Inferno and purgatorio, and Beatrice who introduces him to paradiso.
