Description
Meera Jaiswals childhood and adolescence were spent in the towns and cities of Uttar Pradesh, frolicking on the waves of the Ganges. The urban language, culture, idioms, and Kajri flow in her veins. Bansilal, Anantlal, Prakashvati, Lata, Swarna, and Nanhi Phua are characters rooted in this soil. Although Nanhi Phuas childlike naivet or the evils of child marriage led to better times, a never-ending remorse remained their constant companion. Bansilal, Anantlal, and Prakashvati are characters who received higher education abroad. The bleak personal lives of these characters, all from the prestigious and wealthy classes, are also shaped by this urban soil. Longevity and a life as an athlete had such a profound impact on Neerjas personality that, despite her usual laughter at every little thing, her unbelievable and utterly contradictory nature, often leading to outbursts of anger at the mere sight of a love letter, was beyond anyones understanding. Living in Switzerland, Meera Jaiswal also had the opportunity to experience French, German, Italian, and Venezuelan culture. Frosua is a character rooted in the Swiss town of Rano. She is also present here, with her innocent, unassuming, and childlike charm. The story Yenangvikarah unravels layers of the lives of transgender people weve never encountered. Lata and Mohit are facing punishment for crimes they never committed, while Swarna finds unexpected joy in her life, unimaginable for a transgender person.
