S.H. Vatsyayan Agyeya (1911-1987) S.H. Vatsyayan Agyeya (1911-1987) was born in Kushinagar (Deoria) in 1911. He received his first twelve years of education at home under the supervision of his father (Dr. Hiranand Shastri). He further studied in Madras and Lahore. He took admission in M.A. in English, but then joined a secret revolutionary organization for the independence of the country. Disruption in education and arrest in 1930 on charges of making bombs. While in jail, he wrote Chinta and Shekhar: Ek Jivani. He edited Sainik and Vishal Bharat respectively in 1936-37. He joined the British Army from 1943 to 1946. He worked in All India Radio from 1947-1950. He started and edited Tar Saptak in 1943. He edited the second, third and fourth Saptak respectively. Creation of new paradigms in journalism by editing newspapers and magazines like Prateek, Dinman, Navbharat Times, Vak, Everyman. Numerous trips to India and abroad, which gave a detailed understanding and grasp of Indian civilization, teaching of Indian literature and culture abroad. Honoured with many national and international awards, including Bharatiya Jnanpith in 1979, Yugoslavias international poetry award Golden Wreath in 1983. Many new experiments in building understanding of literature and culture through the establishment and operation of Vatsal Nidhi since 1980. Agyeyas entire creative world is published under the editorship of Dr. Krishna Dutt Paliwal.
