Carpenter, On The Back Pay Bill; Delivered At Janesville, June 26Th, 1873 Judge As To Abolish All Distinctions Between The Rich And Poor. It Is Estimated That A Rich Nobleman Would Spend A Year As Chief Justice Of England. Therefore England Pays Her Chief Justice A Year, And Her Other Judges In Proportion, With Pensions Upon Retiring. And Hence The Poorest Man In England Can Sit On The Bench, And So The Law Is Ad Ministered Impartially Between The Rich And Poor. I Am No Admirer Of The British Government; But With All Her Injustice, With Her Oppression Of Ireland, And The Blood That Stains Her Garments In India And Her Other Possessions, Yet To Her Glory It Must Be Said, That In No Other Nation On Earth Is The Law, After It Is Made, So Impartially Applied To All Classes Of Society As In England.
