Description
Chithiyon Ke Din is a collection of Nirmal Vermas letters to Rameshchandra Shah, Jyotsna Milan, and their daughters, Shampa Shah and Rajula Shah. Written in the 1980s, these letters reveal Nirmals world, a world we are only vaguely familiar with. They reveal his loneliness and his love for communication, his readiness to face his destiny as a writer, and his moral strength to remain untouched by the conspiracies, accusations, and attacks of his contemporaries while understanding them. In his statement included in the same book, Rameshchandra Shah writes, While participating in meetings and seminars, Nirmal ji was as much with himself as with everyone else. An entire generation bears witness to how he was able to maintain ample extroversion even on the conditions of introversion. This same quality is also present in his letters... Self-revealing, self-sensitive, self-revealing; But never self-centered. In these letters, along with references to many books, authors and magazines, one also gets information about the contemporary Hindi world and the movements in world literature, which helps the reader to know that era and understand Nirmal ji as a storyteller and thinker.
