Description
This novel by Acharya Chatursen, author of such well-known novels as Vaishali Ki Nagarvadhu, Vaayam Rakshamah, and Somnath, is set in 12th-century Bihar, when Buddhism was rapidly declining due to social evils. The story revolves around the Buddhist monk Divodasa, who, upon witnessing the atrocities committed in the name of religion, rebels and is imprisoned and imprisoned as a mental asylum. There, he is supported by a devadasi and a former servant, and with their help, Divodasa exposes the atrocities committed in the name of religion.
Using his distinctive storytelling style, Acharya Chatursen portrays religion and its hypocrisy in a highly emotional and engaging manner, revealing the reasons for the disappearance of Buddhism from India. The novel is so readable that it keeps the reader captivated from beginning to end.
