Description
Folktales are an integral part of any societys culture. About a hundred years ago, these folktales were passed down through word of mouth and were passed down from generation to generation, so its difficult to determine the original form of any given folktale. This book is a humble attempt to bring such folktales, both from English and other languages, to the Hindi-speaking community. Many of these folktales have been collected from English books, some from university theses, some from magazines, and some from stories heard from people. Over a thousand folktales have been collected so far. Over four hundred of these are from Africa alone. All these folktales are being published under the series titled Folktales from India and Abroad. It is hoped that these folktales will not only entertain readers but also provide insight into the society, customs, traditions, culture, and customs of other countries.
